Description
  • The Taparia 818 Line Tester is a 200 mm insulated voltage detection screwdriver. It comes with a neon lamp that glows when a live line is detected, providing a safe and reliable way to check for electricity in circuits. The tool is built for both electricians and DIY users, combining the utility of a tester and a basic screwdriver in one.

Applications

 :
The Taparia 813 Line Tester is used mainly for :

Live Line Detection :
  • To check whether wires, terminals, or circuits are live (i.e., carrying voltage).

Basic Electrical Troubleshooting :
  • For identifying live vs neutral in wiring.
  • Verifying if a socket, switch, or appliance connection is energized.

Maintenance & Safety Checks :
  • Electrical inspections in homes or workshops.
  • Pre-check before performing electrical work to ensure safety.

Dual Purpose Tool :
  • Acts both as a tester and as a slotted screwdriver, making it handy when you may need to turn screws after testing.

DIY / Home Use :
  • Useful for amateur electricians or DIY enthusiasts working on household electrical setups.

Usage

 :
To keep the Taparia 818 Line Tester safe and functional :

Storage :
  • Store in a dry, cool place to avoid moisture damaging the insulation or neon lamp.
  • Keep it in a tool box or pouch so the tip doesn’t get bent.

Cleaning :
  • Wipe the blade and handle with a clean, dry cloth after use.
  • If there is dust or grime, you can use a slightly damp cloth, but ensure it's fully dry before using again.
  • Avoid using strong solvents on the handle (since it’s made of C.A. plastic).

Inspection Before Use :
  • Regularly check the PVC-insulated blade for cracks or damage.
  • Inspect the neon lamp: if it doesn’t glow when tested, the tester may be faulty.
  • Test the resistor / insulation: ensure you don’t feel any unexpected shocks; if so, stop using it until checked.

Avoid Over-Voltage :
  • Do not use the tester on voltages beyond its specified maximum (500 V AC) — this can damage the internal resistor or neon lamp.
  • Use it only for “live detection,” not as a full multimeter (i.e., not for measuring current or precise voltage).

Handling :
  • Do not apply excessive force using the tester as a screwdriver; it’s primarily for testing lines, not heavy-duty screwing.
  • Use the pocket clip carefully; avoid bending it repeatedly.
