Description
  • The Taparia 1272 is a 10-inch (250 mm) Stillson‑type adjustable pipe wrench designed for reliable performance in plumbing and maintenance tasks. Made with drop-forged carbon steel jaws and a robust body, it provides strong grip and torque to turn pipes securely. It is compact enough for confined workspaces while offering high mechanical strength.

Features

 :
  • Drop-forged jaws made from high-grade carbon steel for toughness and durability.
  • Precision-machined integral teeth with an included angle of 76° to ensure firm grip without slipping or biting into the pipe.
  • Differential hardness between the handle and the jaw — the teeth are hardened for wear resistance, while the body is tougher to absorb force.
  • Conical compression spring to balance the movable jaw; allows smooth up-and-down action, more durable than traditional leaf springs.
  • Corrosion resistance: jaws are phosphate, and the handle is painted to minimize rust risk.
  • High-strength construction: cast iron housing, heat-treated rivets, and a knurled nut for secure adjustments.
  • Complies with IS 4003 (I) – 1978 standard.

Applications

 :
  • Plumbing: tightening or loosening round pipes and fittings (especially soft‑iron or mild pipes)
  • Mechanical maintenance: for pipework in HVAC, boiler rooms, or fluid systems
  • Construction and installation: use during installation of water or gas pipelines
  • General service work: repairing or servicing pipe-based assemblies in workshops
  • Confined space work: its 250 mm length makes it handy for tight work areas

Usage

 :
Maintenance & Care :

After Use Cleaning : Wipe the wrench clean with a dry cloth to remove any debris, especially from the teeth.

Lubrication : Periodically apply a light oil or machine lubricating oil on the adjusting nut and the movable jaw to ensure smooth movement.

Rust Prevention : If exposed to moisture, dry thoroughly and apply a thin film of anti‑rust oil or spray. The phosphated finish helps, but care ensures longevity.

Storage : Store in a dry toolbox or hang in a tool rack; avoid leaving in damp, humid environments.

Inspection : Regularly check the jaw teeth for wear or deformation. Excessive wear may reduce gripping performance.

Adjust Nut Check : Ensure the knurled adjusting nut remains tight and properly aligned; looseness can lead to slippage.

Avoid Misuse : Do not use the wrench on hardened steel nuts or bolts (e.g., hex nuts), as it’s designed for rounded pipe surfaces — misuse may damage the teeth.
