Description
This is a versatile, single-layer coated abrasive disc designed for high-performance stock removal, grinding, and surface preparation. It consists of abrasive grains (typically Aluminum Oxide or Zirconia) bonded with a synthetic resin to a rigid vulcanized fiber backing.
Used with a matching rubber or plastic backing pad on an angle grinder, the disc offers an aggressive cutting action with a relatively uniform finish, making it highly effective for quickly removing material, preparing surfaces, and smoothing out welds or rough wood.
Features
:- Aggressive grinding
- Vulcanized fiber backing
- High peripheral speeds
- 16 mm bore
Applications
:- Metal Fabrication and Welding
- Construction and Masonry
- Automotive and Restoration
- General Surface Conditioning
Usage
:I. Preparation & Safety
- Disconnect Power: Unplug the grinder or remove the battery.
- Safety Gear: Put on safety glasses (must-have), face shield, and gloves.
- Secure Workpiece: Clamp the material firmly.
II. Fitting
- Mount Backing Pad: Place the correct size (4-inch) Backing Pad onto the grinder spindle.
- Place Disc: Center the Fiber Disc on the pad, with the abrasive side facing out.
- Secure Nut: Tighten the retaining nut firmly with the wrench (do not overtighten).
III. Usage (Operation)
- Start Grinder: Power on the grinder away from the workpiece and let it reach full speed.
- Angle is Key: Hold the disc at a shallow angle (10° to 15°) to the surface for effective cutting. Do not hold it flat.
- Use Light Pressure: Let the disc do the work; too much pressure causes heat and premature wear.
- Keep Moving: Use continuous, overlapping strokes. Do not dwell in one spot to avoid gouging and heat buildup.
