Description
Designed for lengthy, continuous shifts in fabrication yards, structural steel erection, and heavy maintenance workshops, the Toshweld ARC 400 Sumo is a heavy-duty, industrial-grade multi-process inverter arc welding power source. This machine maintains a very stiff, low-spatter welding arc over a dynamic output current range of 30 to 400 Amps thanks to an innovative IGBT Inverter System. Operating seamlessly on an industrial three-phase 415V AC power supply with a robust 18kVA input capacity, it handles heavy-gauge consumable electrode rods up to 6.0mm. It effortlessly produces code-compliant, deep-penetration welds on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy plates up to 40mm thick thanks to its dual-display panel and special controls for Hot Start and Arc Force.
Features
:- High-frequency arc response and exceptional thermal stability are provided by the advanced IGBT inverter core, which enables continuous high-amperage welding cycles without power drop-offs.
- Dual Parameter Adjustment knobs: Contains separate analog dials for Arc Force (to dynamically modify puddle agitation and remove rod sticking) and Hot Start (for simple electrode striking).
- Gigantic Plate Penetration: Designed to maintain uniform, smooth welds on big industrial conductive metal plates with thicknesses ranging from 2.0 mm to a gigantic 40.0 mm.
- Integrated VRD Safety Infrastructure: During standby mode, an on-board Voltage Reduction Device (VRD) switch lowers the open-circuit idling voltage to safe limits.
- High-Conductivity Bolt Terminals: To prevent slack connection arcs under full 400A loads, heavy-duty threaded stud output terminals with tightening bolts are used in place of conventional twist-lock sockets.
Applications
:- Heavy Structural Infrastructure: Continuous stick welding on commercial building frameworks, bridge columns, crane runway girders, and thick structural I-beams.
- Heavy Machinery Overhaul: Repairing and strengthening damaged carbon-steel bucket bodies on mining equipment, industrial crushers, and earthmoving excavators.
- In industrial vessel and pipeline yards, thick-walled chemical storage tanks and pressure lines are subjected to high-penetration root, fill, and cap welding passes.
- Shipyard Manufacturing: Providing a high-duty-cycle power footprint to join thick maritime attachments and large steel structural hull platings.
Usage
:- Before connecting the power source terminal wires, make sure the infrastructure of your production facility has a grounded, stable three-phase AC 415V primary circuit breaker.
- Using the proper wrench, firmly squeeze the bolt-on terminal rings over the front positive (+) and negative (-) threaded copper studs.
- To ensure low open-circuit resting voltage variations while the machine is idle, flip the front-panel VRD safety rocker switch to the "ON" position.
- Directly attach the grounding return clamp to a part of the target steel plate that has been thoroughly cleaned and is free of rust, mill scale, and thick priming layers.
