- The Taparia 1275 is a heavy-duty, 18-inch (450 mm) Stillson-type adjustable pipe wrench built for large pipework. With drop-forged jaws and a robust cast-iron body, it offers reliable grip and high torque, making it ideal for demanding plumbing, industrial, and mechanical tasks.
Features
:- High-Grade Drop-Forged Jaws : The jaws are made from drop-forged carbon steel for strength and durability.
- Precision Machined Teeth : The jaw teeth are machined with an included angle of 76°, which ensures firm gripping without biting into the pipe.
- Differential Hardness : The wrench has a hardness pattern where the jaw teeth are very hard (for wear resistance) and the body/handle is tougher to absorb stress.
- Conical Compression Spring : Uses a specially designed spring to balance the movable jaw, providing smooth action and long life
- Rust Resistance : Phosphated jaws and a painted body help protect against corrosion.
- Robust Construction : The housing is made of high-grade S G cast iron, and the adjustment nut is knurled for easy operation.
- Standards Compliance : Conforms to IS 4003 (I) – 1978.
Applications
:- Plumbing : Tightening / loosening large-diameter pipes in plumbing installations and repairs.
- Industrial Maintenance : Useful in maintenance of pipe networks in factories, refineries, and mechanical plants.
- Construction : For installing or dismantling steel / iron pipes during building construction.
- HVAC / Pipeline Work : For working with large conduits, ductwork, or pipeline assemblies.
- Workshop / Mechanical : In workshops for servicing cylindrical pipe components, pipe-fitting assemblies, or pipe-based machinery.
Usage
:Maintenance & Care :
Cleaning : After use, wipe the wrench clean to remove any dirt, grease, or metal shavings — especially from the jaw teeth.
Lubrication : Periodically lubricate the adjusting nut and the sliding (movable) jaw with light machine oil so that it adjusts smoothly.
Corrosion Protection : If exposed to moisture, dry the tool thoroughly and apply a thin coat of anti-rust or lubricating oil to prevent corrosion.
Storage : Store in a dry toolbox or hang it in a tool board; avoid leaving it in wet or humid areas.
Inspection : Check the jaw teeth regularly for signs of wear, rounding, or damage. Worn teeth reduce grip and can damage pipes.
Adjust Nut Check : Ensure the adjustment nut (the knurled part) remains tight and aligned properly — a loose nut can lead to slippage.
Proper Use : Do not use the wrench on hardened nuts or bolts (especially hex nuts) — It’s designed for round pipe surfaces; misuse can damage the teeth.
