- The Taparia 1276 is a 24-inch (600 mm) Stillson-type adjustable pipe wrench designed for high-torque applications involving large-diameter pipes. Built with drop-forged carbon steel jaws and a robust cast-iron body, it ensures secure grip and reliable performance in demanding plumbing, industrial, and mechanical environments.
Features
:- High-Grade Drop-Forged Jaws : The jaws are made from drop-forged carbon steel for strength and durability.
- Precision Machined Teeth : The jaw teeth are machined with an included angle of 76°, which ensures firm gripping without biting into the pipe.
- Differential Hardness : The wrench has a hardness pattern where the jaw teeth are very hard (for wear resistance) and the body/handle is tougher to absorb stress.
- Conical Compression Spring : Uses a specially designed spring to balance the movable jaw, providing smooth action and long life
- Rust Resistance : Phosphated jaws and a painted body help protect against corrosion.
- Robust Construction : The housing is made of high-grade S G cast iron, and the adjustment nut is knurled for easy operation.
- Standards Compliance : Conforms to IS 4003 (I) – 1978.
Applications
:- Heavy plumbing work involving large-diameter pipes
- Industrial maintenance of pipe networks in plants, refineries, and mechanical systems
- Construction and installation of large pipe lines
- Maintenance of HVAC or boiler systems with large pipe runs
- Workshop and service tasks requiring high torque to tighten or loosen big pipes
Usage
:Maintenance & Care :
Cleaning : After use, wipe off dust, metal shavings, and any residue from the jaws and body.
Lubrication : Apply a light machine oil to the adjusting nut and the sliding movable jaw periodically — helps maintain smooth operation.
Rust Prevention : Dry the tool thoroughly after use. Use a rust-preventive oil if stored for long periods, especially in humid environments.
Storage : Store in a dry, well-ventilated toolbox or hang it on a tool rack. Avoid leaving it on damp surfaces.
Inspect Jaws : Regularly check the teeth for wear, deformation, or rounding — worn teeth reduce grip efficacy.
Adjust Nut Check : Make sure the knurled adjusting nut remains tight and aligned; a loose nut can cause slippage.
Proper Use : Use this wrench for round pipes only. Avoid applying it to hardened or hex nuts — misuse can damage the jaws.
