Short Description
Reliant Lab Bending of Beam Apparatus
Country of origin: India
Specifications
- Brand: Reliant Lab
- Metal Bar Length : 100 cm
- Metal Bar Width : 25 mm
- Metal Bar Thickness : 4.5 mm
Description
The Bending of Beam Apparatus consists of a heavy duty metallic frame equipped with two adjustable "knife-edge" supports. A test beam is placed across these supports. Loads are applied to the center of the beam using a slotted weight hanger. The resulting downward deflection is measured with high precision using a spherometer or a digital/analog dial gauge mounted on a movable bridge. By plotting the load against the deflection, users can calculate the Young’s Modulus of the material and study the stiffness of different beam cross sections.
Features
:- Precision Deflection Measurement: Includes a high-sensitivity dial gauge or a micrometer spherometer with a resolution of 0.01mm for accurate data.
- Versatile Material Testing: Supplied with a set of beams made of different materials (e.g., Steel, Brass, Aluminum) to compare elastic properties.
- Sturdy Construction: Features a heavy cast iron or steel base to ensure the frame remains rigid and level under maximum loading.
- Integrated Scale: The base frame often includes a graduated scale to precisely measure the distance between the two support points (the "span").
Applications
:- Flexural Rigidity Analysis: Studying how the shape and material of a beam influence its resistance to bending.
- Structural Engineering Basics: Helping students understand the concepts of neutral axes, tension, and compression in loaded members.
- Deflection Characteristics: Observing how the span length and beam thickness exponentially affect the total deflection.
- Quality Assurance: Used in industrial settings to verify the stiffness and load bearing capacity of small-scale structural components.
