Description
The Metro Safety SB 1017 is a professional-grade Class P full body personal protective equipment (PPE) harness designed specifically for high-altitude rigging, utility work, and tower climbing. By combining a master rear dorsal D-ring for main fall arrest with two special side-mounted lateral D-rings sewn into a supporting lumbar waist belt, this industrial safety harness offers outstanding dual-layer protection. By securing positioning lanyards with the lateral D-rings, employees may comfortably stabilize themselves while using both hands to safely use equipment or change components. The assembly uses a high-strength automated structural stitching design to guarantee even load distribution and exceptional tear resistance under stress. It is made of sturdy, high-density 44mm wide synthetic polyester webbing.
Features
:Polyester Material Features:
Moisture Absorption & Wet Performance:
- Mechanical Strength & Shock Absorption:
- Because it does not stretch easily, it keeps structures highly stable. This is why industrial full-body safety harnesses heavily rely on polyester—it ensures a falling worker is caught immediately without a dangerous stretching "drop"
- Polyester is highly hydrophobic (it repels water). It absorbs less than 1% of its weight in moisture. Because it stays dry, a polyester strap or net retains 100% of its rated breaking strength, structural dimensions, and weight even when completely submerged or used in torrential rain.
- Polyester has excellent natural resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. When exposed to harsh, direct sunlight over months or years, polyester maintains its molecular integrity, color, and breaking strength extremely well, making it the premier choice for outdoor industrial or marine applications.
- Abrasion & Chemical Resistance:
- Polyester offers exceptional resistance to acids, bleaching agents, and organic solvents. However, it can weaken if exposed to strong alkalis (bases) at high temperatures. It features fantastic resistance to scratching and surface pilling.
- Placement - The Dorsal D-ring is located on the upper back, positioned exactly between the shoulder blades.
- Primary Purpose - It is the universally mandatory connection point for Fall Arrest systems. If a worker falls free from a structure, the dorsal connection is designed to catch them safely.
- Placement – Lateral D-rings are located on the hips, with one positioned on each side of the body. They are typically integrated into a full-body harness's waist belt or heavy-duty side straps.
- Primary Purpose – They are designed specifically for Work Positioning and Restraint systems. They allow a worker to connect to a structure (like a rebar wall, tower, or utility pole) using a positioning lanyard, freeing up both hands to perform work while remaining securely supported.
Other Features:
- Class P Work posture Setup: Featuring a rear dorsal D-ring for certified fall arrest safety and two side-mounted lateral D-rings for stable hands-free work posture.
- Dual-Color Webbing Design: To prevent tangled web patterns and guarantee speedy donning, this design uses starkly different strap colors for the upper body vest and lower leg segments.
- 44mm Industrial Polyester: Made from high-tensile, abrasion-resistant 44mm synthetic polyester fibers to endure the demanding everyday exposure to the outdoors.
- Robust structural joints and consistent breaking strength under shock loads are guaranteed by automated structural stitching, which uses machine-controlled, accurate stitch patterns.
- Certified Site Compliance: Produced in complete accordance with the IS 3521:1999 industrial personal fall protection standard, adhering to stringent safety requirements.
Applications
:- Telecommunications and Cell Towers: Essential personal safety equipment for tower technicians climbing cell arrays, pylons, and utility frameworks needing hands-free wiring capabilities.
- Electrical Line Maintenance: Ideal for electrical linemen climbing wooden or concrete utility poles requiring lateral stabilization and fall restraint.
- Scaffolding and Formwork Framing: Allows construction crews to securely hook onto structural framing scaffolding while manipulating heavy steel couplers or wooden planks.
- Wind Turbine and Plant Rigging: Provides high-stability torso support for renewable energy field technicians and complex factory rigging teams working on high platforms.
Usage
:- Thoroughly inspect the 44mm polyester webbing, hardware buckles, and structural stitch zones for cuts, abrasions, thermal damage, or fraying prior to starting work.
- Lift the harness by its rear dorsal D-ring and shake it down gently to allow all thigh loops, the waist belt, and shoulder straps to fall into their natural position.
- Slip the upper straps over the arms like a vest, keeping the dorsal D-ring positioned squarely between the shoulder blades and the lateral hoops aligned symmetrically on the hips.
- Buckle and tighten the integrated lumbar waist belt first, followed by the independent thigh loops, ensuring a fit tight enough to slip a flat hand underneath but not a clenched fist.
- Secure the front chest connector strap and tuck any loose webbing tails neatly through the designated plastic keepers.
- Always connect a certified positioning lanyard to both lateral D-rings when anchoring a stable working stance, and ensure a separate shock-absorbing lifeline is linked to the dorsal D-ring for fail-safe fall arrest fallback.
