Description
This is a high-speed, compact benchtop centrifuge designed for routine clinical and laboratory separation tasks. It is a step-up in speed and capacity from the more basic "Handi Shape" (swing-out) models. The 5000 R.P.M. speed allows it to generate a higher relative centrifugal force (RCF), resulting in faster and more efficient separation of samples compared to standard 3500 R.P.M. units.
Features
:
Variable Speed Control: Equipped with a stepless speed regulator (an analog dial) that allows the user to adjust the speed from a low RPM up to the 5000 R.P.M. maximum, providing flexibility for different protocols.
Built-in Timer: Includes a mechanical or digital timer (typically 0-60 minutes) to set the precise spin duration, ensuring standardized and repeatable results.
Durable Metal Construction: The body is made of heavy-gauge steel with a powder-coated finish. This heavy body provides excellent stability and minimizes vibration.
Safety Lid: Features a safety lid that must be closed for the motor to engage. Many models also have a lid-lock mechanism that prevents the lid from being opened while the rotor is still spinning.
Applications
:
Plasma Separation: Quickly separating plasma from whole blood (in anticoagulant tubes) for coagulation studies and other tests.
Urine Sedimentation: Concentrating cells, crystals, and casts from urine samples for microscopic analysis.
General-Purpose Separation: While it can be used for serum separation, the slanted pellet is sometimes less convenient for "gell-barrier" serum tubes than a swing-out rotor, but it is perfectly functional for routine biochemistry and serology.
