Description
Sika Sikalastic-520 Cool Coat Fibers IN is a single-component, water-based, cold-applied elastic membrane that is ready for immediate usage. It contains innovative cross-linking polymers, unique glass microfibers, and antifungal ingredients to build a long-lasting, durable waterproofing shield. Its most notable attribute is its remarkable heat-reflective capabilities, which reduces heat infiltration into interiors, keeping buildings cooler and lowering energy expenditures for air conditioning. This thick viscous liquid cures to produce a smooth, seamless finish that bridges cracks up to 3.2 mm and is resistant to extreme weathering, UV exposure, and saltwater environments.
Features
:- High Solar Reflectance (SRI 112): Effectively reflects sunlight, lowering surface temperatures on roofs and walls and minimizing inside heat.
- Fiber Reinforced: Contains unique glass microfibers that increase the membrane's tensile strength and durability.
- Crack-Bridging Ability: Due to its highly elastic qualities, it can bridge existing cracks up to 3.2 mm, reducing water seepage.
- Energy Efficient: Lowering the temperature of the building greatly reduces the amount of energy necessary to cool it.
- Weather and UV Resistance: Specifically designed to withstand constant exposure to sunshine and harsh weather without scorching or cracking.
- Antifungal and antimicrobial: Advanced ingredients prevent mold, fungus, and algae from growing on the coated surface.
- Ease of Use: Can be applied cold using a brush or roller; no specialist heating or flame is required.
Applications
:- Roof Structures: Suitable for both flat and slope fully exposed roofs.
- Renovation: Waterproofing and restoring old roof tiles and lime terraced roofs.
- External walls provide protection and heat reflection.
- Complex Geometries: Ideal for roofs with many penetrations, drains, and roof lights.
- Storage Tanks: An external coating for PVC water tanks that keeps stored water cold.
- Substrates include concrete, brick, masonry, unglazed clay/ceramic tiles, corrugated asbestos, and metal decks.
Usage
:- Surface Preparation: Make sure the substrate is clean and dry, free of oil, grease, dust, and other debris. Sika sealants are useful for repairing extensive fractures.
- Priming: For porous surfaces, use a priming coat (typically Sikalastic-520 diluted with 10-20% water).
- Application: Thoroughly stir the liquid before use. Apply the first application with a brush or roller.
- Reinforcement: While the first coat is still wet, incorporate a reinforcement cloth in places with frequent movement or joints.
- Second Coat: Apply a second coat once the first has dried (about 4-6 hours, depending on humidity). Ensure that the second coat is applied perpendicular to the first.
- Curing: Allow the coating to cure completely for at least 24-48 hours before walking on it or being exposed to heavy rain.
