The "holding cup" of a manual hand press juicer, often referred to as the strainer cup, perforated cone, or sometimes simply the juicing cup, is a critical component located directly beneath the pressing dome/plate and above the juice collection area.
Its primary function is to hold the fruit during the pressing action and effectively separate the pulp and seeds from the extracted juice. It sits directly beneath the upper pressing cone (which comes down from the lever arm) and above the funnel or juice collector. When the fruit (typically a halved citrus fruit like an orange, lemon, lime, or grapefruit) is placed onto the lower, fixed reamer/cone, the holding cup encircles and contains it. As the upper dome presses down, the juice is squeezed out.
