Short Description
Reliant Lab Kundi’s Tube Apparatus
On Wooden Board with 1 Meter Glass Tube
Country of origin: India
Specifications
- Brand: Reliant Lab
- Tube Length : 1 Meter
- Tube Material : Borosil Glass Tube
Description
The apparatus consists of a high quality 1-meter long glass tube mounted horizontally on a polished wooden board. One end of the tube is fitted with a movable piston, while the other end receives a metal rod clamped at its center. When the rod is stroked longitudinally with a resined cloth, it vibrates, and its motion is transmitted to a small disc inside the glass tube. By adjusting the piston, stationary waves are created within the tube.
Features
:- 1-Meter Borosilicate Glass Tube: A transparent, wide-bore tube that provides ample length for multiple nodes to form, ensuring high accuracy in measurement.
- Polished Wooden Mounting Board: Provides a stable, vibration-dampened base that keeps the glass tube and the metal rod perfectly aligned.
- Adjustable Graduated Piston: Features a smooth-sliding piston that allows the user to change the length of the air column to find the exact resonance point.
- Interchangeable Rods: The apparatus is designed to accommodate rods of different materials to compare the speed of sound in various solids.
Applications
:- Velocity of Sound in Solids: By comparing the wavelength in the rod to the wavelength in the air, the speed of sound in the metal itself can be calculated.
- Calculation of Young's Modulus: Used in advanced physics to determine the elasticity of the rod material based on sound velocity.
- Demonstration of Standing Waves: Provides a clear, visual representation of nodes and antinodes in a longitudinal wave.
- Determining the Ratio of Specific Heats: Helps in finding the adiabatic index of various gases through acoustic resonance.
