Hobby / DIY Work : Useful in small garages or DIY setups for maintenance tasks.
Usage
:Maintenance & Care Guidelines : To ensure safe, efficient operation and a long life for your bench grinder :
Regular Cleaning :
- Unplug the machine before cleaning.
- Use a brush or compressed air to remove dust, metal particles, and debris from the wheel guards, tool rests, and motor housing.
- Clean the eye shield and spark deflector to maintain clear visibility.
Wheel Maintenance :
- Check grinding wheels for cracks, chips, or excessive wear before each use; replace if damaged.
- Use a wheel dresser (if available) to true and clean the wheel surface — this restores the abrasive surface and ensures efficient grinding.
- Adjust the work rest periodically; it should be very close (typically a couple of mm) to the grinding wheel to avoid catches. (In many grinders, work rest needs to be ≤ ~2 mm away.)
Mounting & Stability :
- Mount the grinder securely on a stable bench using bolts or screws; avoid letting it move during use.
- Check that the base remains tight and vibration is minimal.
Motor & Ventilation :
- Make sure the ventilation slots on the motor are not blocked by dust. Clean them regularly to avoid overheating.
- Let the motor cool down if used for extended durations.
Safety Checks :
- Always wear safety goggles, face shield, or safety glasses when operating.
- Ensure the eye shields are adjusted properly so that sparks don’t fly back.
- Maintain a firm grip on the tool being ground, and apply even pressure — do not force it into the wheel.
Storage :
- When not in use, cover the grinder (if possible) to prevent dust accumulation.
- Store in a dry, cool place to protect the electrical parts and prevent rust on the grinding wheels.
Periodic Inspection :
- Inspect the power cord for any wear or damage; replace if needed.
- Check the tightness of nuts/bolts, wheel guards, and eye shields regularly.
- Listen for unusual noises (vibration, wobble) — could indicate wheel imbalance or looseness.
Advantages & Limitations :
Advantages :
- Affordable and compact — ideal for small workshops.
- Good power-to-size ratio (150 W at 2,950 rpm).
- Safety features like eye shields.
- Two grinding wheels allow for both coarse and fine grinding.
Limitations :
- Only 150 W — not suited for very heavy / industrial grinding tasks.
- Fixed speed — no variable speed.
- Since it’s fairly small, it may not be ideal for very large/bulky workpieces.
