Flexible retroreflective material known as "retroreflective sheeting" is mostly used to make traffic signs, high-visibility apparel, and other objects more noticeable at night so that they can be safely and effectively seen in the light of an oncoming driver's headlights. In manufacturing settings, they are also utilized as a material to extend the barcode scanning range. The sheeting is made up of encapsulated lenses, micro prisms, or retroreflective glass beads that are adhered to a substrate made of plastic or cloth. Numerous manufacturers offer a wide range of colours and reflection intensities for different uses. Like any retroreflector, sheeting appears nonreflective from other angles but glows brilliantly when the observer's eye is at a minor angle to the light source pointing at the sheeting.
