Description
The Reliant Lab Newton’s Ring Apparatus is a fundamental optical setup used to demonstrate the phenomenon of interference in thin films. It consists of a high quality plano convex lens of large focal length placed on a plane glass plate, held securely within a specially designed Aluminum Frame. When monochromatic light is directed onto this assembly, a thin wedge shaped air film is formed between the two surfaces, creating concentric circular interference fringes known as Newton's Rings. This apparatus is an essential requirement for wave optics experiments in university physics laboratories.
Features
:- Precision Lenses: Features a high quality plano convex lens with a large radius of curvature paired with an optically flat glass plate.
- Durable Aluminium Frame: The assembly is housed in a robust, corrosion resistant aluminium frame that ensures the components remain perfectly centered.
- Pressure Adjustment: Equipped with three equidistant brass thumb screws that allow for uniform pressure application to achieve a perfect central dark spot.
- Stable Alignment: Engineered to maintain a consistent air gap between the lens and the plate, preventing mechanical shifts during measurement.
Applications
:- Wavelength Determination
- Radius of Curvature
- Refractive Index of Liquids
- Thin Film Interference
- Optical Testing
- Wave Optics Education
