Description
The SBT Instruments Newton’s Cradle (19 cm × 15 cm × 15 cm) is a table top physics demonstrator made to visually illustrate the conservation of momentum and kinetic energy through elastic collisions. It contains five precisely aligned steel balls (19 mm diameter) suspended from a rigid frame. When one or more balls are pulled and released, their energy is transferred through the line, causing the outer ball(s) on the opposite side to swing out in a rhythmic motion.
Features
:- Steel Balls (19 mm) : High-elasticity steel ensures good bounce and energy transfer.
- Rigid Frame : Sturdy structure keeps balls aligned for consistent collisions.
- Bifilar Suspension : Balls hang on strings that minimize rotational interference, ensuring near-linear motion.
- Compact Size : Dimensions of ~ 19 × 15 × 15 cm make it desk-friendly.
Applications
:- Physics Education : Demonstrate momentum and energy conservation in school/university labs.
- Classroom Demonstrations : Teachers can use it to show how elastic collisions work.
- Science Exhibits : A visual and interactive exhibit in science fairs or STEM events.
- Office / Home Decor : As a kinetic desk toy, it provides a relaxing visual and tactile experience.
- STEM Projects : Students can analyze motion, damping, and energy loss.
- Motion Analysis : Can be used to study damping, the effect of friction or imperfect elasticity, and how oscillations decay over time
