Short Description
Reliant Lab Resonance Apparatus Brass Pipe,
Size 1 inch Dia
Country of origin: India
Specifications
- Brand: Reliant Lab
- Pipe Material : Brass
- Pipe Dia : 1 inch
- Base Material : Cast Iron
Description
The apparatus consists of a high-quality, polished 1-inch diameter brass pipe mounted vertically on a sturdy metal stand. This pipe is connected via flexible rubber tubing to a movable water reservoir. By raising or lowering the reservoir, the water level inside the brass pipe can be adjusted precisely to change the length of the air column. When a vibrating tuning fork is held over the mouth of the pipe, resonance occurs at specific air column lengths where the natural frequency of the column matches the frequency of the fork.
Features
:- Premium Brass Construction: The 1-inch diameter brass tube provides a smooth internal surface that minimizes sound damping and ensures clear, sharp resonance points.
- Anti Corrosive Fittings: All metallic parts, including the pipe and support rods, are treated or made of brass to prevent rust from constant water exposure.
- Stable Cast Iron Base: The entire assembly is supported by a heavy, tripod-shaped cast iron base with leveling screws to ensure the pipe remains perfectly vertical.
- Visible Water Level: The use of transparent tubing between the reservoir and the brass pipe allows for easy monitoring of the water level to prevent overspilling.
Applications
:- End Correction Calculations: Experimentally calculating the end correction of the pipe, accounting for the fact that the antinode forms slightly outside the tube's mouth.
- Frequency Verification: Calculating the unknown frequency of a tuning fork by using a known value for the speed of sound.
- Harmonic Series Study: Demonstrating the formation of standing waves and identifying nodes and antinodes in a closed end air column.
- Temperature Effects on Sound: Studying how the velocity of sound varies with changes in ambient laboratory temperature.
