Short Description
Reliant Lab Poisson’s Ratio of Rubber Apparatus
For Verification of Incompressibility
Country of origin: India
Specifications
- Brand: Reliant Lab
- Stand Material : Cast Iron
- Tube Material : Rubber
Description
The Reliant Lab Poisson’s Ratio of Rubber Apparatus is a specialized mechanics instrument designed to measure the ratio of lateral strain to longitudinal strain known as Poisson’s Ratio in an elastic material. When the rubber tube is stretched longitudinally using a graduated loading system, its diameter simultaneously decreases . The longitudinal extension is measured using a linear scale, while the lateral contraction is often measured by filling the tube with water and observing the change in volume via a connected graduated capillary tube.
Features
:- Volumetric Measurement System: Utilizes a water filled rubber tube connected to a graduated capillary to measure microscopic lateral contractions through volume changes.
- Uniform Rubber Specimen: Equipped with a high grade, elastic rubber tube of consistent thickness to ensure uniform deformation throughout the experiment.
- Precision Graduated Capillary: The attached glass capillary tube allows for high-sensitivity readings of water level shifts, representing the change in internal volume.
- Heavy-Duty Support Frame: Constructed with a stable vertical pillar and a robust base to maintain perfect alignment of the tube and scale during weight application.
Applications
:- Study of Material Elasticity: Helps students understand the behavior of polymers and elastomers under tensile stress.
- Verification of Incompressibility: Used to demonstrate that for materials like rubber, the volume remains nearly constant during deformation .
- Advanced Mechanics Instruction: Serves as a core experiment in undergraduate physics and engineering to bridge the gap between simple tension and volumetric strain.
- Laboratory Skills Training: Develops proficiency in reading capillary levels and performing multi variable calculations in material science.
