Short Description
Reliant Lab Sonometer Apparatus Soft Wood
Aluminum Fitting
Country of origin: India
Specifications
- Brand: Reliant Lab
- Material : Soft Wood
- Fitting Type : Aluminum Fitting
Description
The apparatus consists of a hollow "sound box" made of high quality, seasoned softwood, which acts as a resonator to amplify the sound produced by the vibrating string. It features two fixed bridges and two movable "wedge" bridges that allow the user to adjust the effective length of the string. By adjusting the tension and the length, users can precisely study the relationship between frequency, tension, and linear density.
Features
:- Resonant Softwood Box: The hollow wooden body is specifically designed to vibrate in sympathy with the string, significantly increasing the volume and clarity of the notes produced.
- Precision Aluminium Fittings: Equipped with a high-quality aluminum pulley and tuning pegs that provide smooth operation and resistance to corrosion.
- Integrated Measuring Scale: A meter scale is permanently inlaid or attached to the top surface for accurate measurement of the string length between bridges.
- Sturdy Frictionless Pulley: The aluminum pulley is engineered to minimize mechanical resistance, ensuring the tension applied by the weights is transmitted accurately to the wire.
Applications
:- Determining Frequency: Allows for the calculation of the unknown frequency of a tuning fork by achieving resonance with the vibrating string.
- Study of Standing Waves: Provides a visual and audible demonstration of nodes, antinodes, and fundamental frequencies.
- Material Analysis: Used to find the linear density or mass per unit length of different metallic wires.
- Resonance Demonstrations: Used with a paper rider to show the exact point where the string's natural frequency matches an external tuning fork.
