Description
The Reliant Lab Stewart & Gee Apparatus is a sophisticated physics laboratory instrument designed to study the variation of the magnetic field along the axis of a current carrying circular coil. It consists of a large, vertically mounted circular coil with multiple turns of insulated copper wire. A long, non-magnetic wooden or brass rail passes through the center of the coil, supporting a sliding carriage that holds a sensitive magnetic compass box. By moving the compass box along the axis at measured distances, students can experimentally verify the Biot Savart law and observe how the magnetic field intensity decreases as the distance from the center of the coil increases.
