Usage

 :
1. Select the Correct Drive Size

Choose the appropriate ratchet handle size:

  • 1/4" drive for small fasteners and tight spaces
  • 3/8" drive for medium-sized fasteners
  • 1/2" drive for larger bolts and heavy-duty jobs

2. Pick the Right Socket

  • Find the socket that fits the bolt or nut snugly.
  • Sockets in the set usually range from small (around 4 mm or 1/8") to large (up to 32 mm or 1 1/4").
  • Use 6-point sockets for a tight grip on hexagonal bolts; 12-point sockets can fit more bolt shapes and are easier for quick turns.

3. Attach Socket to Ratchet

  • Push the socket onto the drive square of the ratchet until it clicks or locks in place.
  • Some ratchets have a quick-release button to make socket changes easier.

4. Adjust Ratchet Direction

  • Set the ratchet switch to tighten (clockwise) or loosen (counterclockwise) the fastener.
  • Test the ratchet direction by gently moving the handle.

5. Use Extensions or Universal Joints (if needed)

  • Attach extension bars to reach fasteners in deep or tight spaces.
  • Use universal joints to work at an angle or around obstacles.

6. Operate the Ratchet

  • Place the socket over the fastener head.
  • Turn the ratchet handle back and forth to tighten or loosen the fastener.
  • The ratchet mechanism allows for continuous turning without removing the tool from the fastener.

7. Use Additional Bits or Spark Plug Sockets (Optional)

  • For screws or bolts requiring special bits, attach the bit holder to the ratchet and then insert the bit.
  • For spark plugs, use the dedicated spark plug socket with the appropriate drive handle.

8. Store Properly

  • After use, clean any dirt or grease from sockets and ratchets.
  • Store all pieces back in the molded case to keep them organized and protected.

Maintenance :

1. Clean After Use

  • Wipe down sockets, ratchets, and accessories with a clean, dry cloth after every use to remove dirt, grease, and debris.
  • For stubborn grime, use a mild detergent solution and dry thoroughly to prevent rust.

2. Lubricate Moving Parts

  • Apply a light machine oil or lubricant to the ratchet mechanism periodically to keep it smooth and prevent rust.
  • Avoid excessive oil; a few drops are enough.

3. Inspect Regularly

  • Check sockets for cracks, wear, or rounded edges that could slip and damage fasteners.
  • Ensure the ratchet mechanism works properly without excessive play or stiffness.
  • Inspect extension bars and universal joints for any damage or bending.

4. Store Properly

  • Keep the set in its molded plastic case when not in use to protect from dust, moisture, and impacts.
  • Store in a dry, cool place away from humidity to prevent corrosion.

5. Avoid Misuse

  • Use the correct size socket for the job to avoid damaging the tool or fasteners.
  • Do not use sockets with impact wrenches unless they are rated for it (usually impact sockets are specially designed).
  • Avoid using the ratchet as a hammer or lever.

6. Rust Prevention

  • If you notice any surface rust, gently remove it with a fine steel wool or rust remover.
  • Apply a thin coat of anti-rust spray or oil to the metal parts before long-term storage.

7. Replace Worn Parts

  • If any sockets, ratchets, or accessories become worn or damaged, replace them promptly to maintain safety and performance.
