Description
The ST-5531A is a 3/8″ square drive pneumatic (air-powered) impact wrench built on the “rocking‐dog” hammer mechanism. This style of impact wrench uses a rocking dog clutch system instead of twin hammer or pin clutch, which tends to be more compact and cost-effective for lighter duty fastening and loosening operations. The unit is designed to deliver moderate torque with a compact form factor - ideal for automotive, light industrial or service-bay use where space and weight matter.

Features

 :
  • 3/8″ square drive : Fits standard 3/8″ impact sockets, making it suitable for many automotive/truck/light industrial fasteners.
  • Rocking dog hammer mechanism : The “rocking dog” clutch style provides a good compromise between power, durability and cost for lighter to medium‐duty use.
  • Compact and lightweight body : Easier to use in confined spaces or overhead tasks compared to larger impact wrenches.
  • Forward/Reverse switch and throttle trigger : Allows the operator to quickly reverse direction for fastening vs loosening.
  • Standard air inlet & hose compatibility : Compatible with typical compressed‐air systems (e.g., ¼″ NPT or similar, and 3/8″ hose I.D).
  • Durable build for industrial/automotive use : Components designed for repeated impact loads, with suitable bearings, rotor blades, and clutch mechanism.
  • Exhaust design & ergonomics : Many tools of this class route the exhaust through or out the handle to keep air away from work or operator, and have ergonomically shaped grips to reduce operator fatigue.

Applications

 :
  • Automotive service shops : for removing and installing wheel lug nuts, suspension fasteners, bolts on engines or chassis.
  • Light industrial maintenance: service of production equipment, conveyors, machining centres where moderate torque is required.
  • Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) environments: general tasks of periodic disassembly and re-fastening of parts and panels.
  • Workshops with limited space: Because of the compact 3/8″ drive size and relatively light weight, it works well in areas with limited clearance, overhead, or inside vehicle engine bays.
  • Smaller‐vehicle or trailer servicing: Where heavy truck ½″ or ¾″ impact wrenches may be overkill, this size offers a good balance.

Usage

 :
Air supply setup :
  • Ensure your compressor, air hose and filters deliver clean, dry compressed air (typically ~90 psi / ~6.3 bar recommended for many 3/8″ pneumatic wrenches).
  • Install an air filter, regulator, lubricator (FRL unit) to protect the tool from moisture and debris.
  • Use a hose with adequate inner diameter (typically 3/8″ I.D for smaller tools) to minimise pressure drop.
  • Ensure the quick‐coupler and air inlet fittings are compatible and secure.

Socket and fastener preparation :
  • Select the correct 3/8″ impact socket (must be rated for impact use).
  • Ensure the bolt/nut is the correct size, threads are clean, and apply proper lubrication/anti-seize if required by your fastener specification.
  • Set the correct torque approach: Though impact wrenches provide high “busting” torque, final torque may need a torque wrench for accuracy.

Operation :
  • Connect the tool to the air line, then set the forward/reverse switch as required.
  • Place the socket squarely on the fastener, ensure a firm hold.
  • Pull the trigger gently to get the tool running, then guide the socket onto the fastener. Avoid “rocking” the tool on the socket to prevent damage.
  • Let the tool do the work; don’t force excessive pressure. If the bolt is stiff, reduce pressure or consider breaking it free.
  • After loosening, reverse direction to install; many tools allow adjustable power or speed for installation.
  • Clean the tool and socket after use, and disconnect from air supply when not in use.

Safety & environment :
  • Wear appropriate PPE: eye protection, hearing protection (since pneumatic tools can be noisy), gloves.
  • Secure the workpiece to prevent shifting or injury when bolt breaks free.
  • Avoid operating in environments with flammable vapours if the tool has exhaust or sparks.
  • Ensure good ventilation if working in enclosed spaces.
  • Keep air hose behind you to avoid tripping or tool drag.
