Description
This tool is a 3-inch pad pneumatic (air-powered) random orbital sander with a composite housing. It is designed for industrial or workshop use where a compact, lightweight, high-speed finishing tool is required. The composite body improves durability and usability (e.g., reduced “hand chill” in cold environments) and the tool lends itself to extended use thanks to solid motor design and low noise levels.

Features

 :
  • Composite housing body: impact-resistant and lightweight, helping reduce hand-chill in cold environments.
  • Free speed of ~17,000 rpm (for the 3″ pad version) for fast material removal and smooth surface finishing.
  • Pad size: 3″ (76 mm) hook-and-loop backing pad.
  • Spindle thread: 5/16”-24T (for the standard 3″ version) enabling compatible backing pads.
  • Air inlet: 1/4” PT, air hose I.D.: 3/8” (typical industrial air line) for proper airflow and performance.
  • Air consumption: approx. 12 cfm (340 l/min) for ST-C120 version.
  • Compact overall size: approx. 4-9/10″ length (125 mm) so the tool can access tighter areas.
  • Quiet muffler and exhaust design: reduced noise levels (quoted ~73 dBA) without sacrificing speed or torque.
  • Rear/handle exhaust directs expelled air away from operator and work surface, improving comfort and cleanliness.
  • Variable speed control (where applicable) helps achieve optimal finish on different materials.
  • Ergonomic handle shape with recessed moulding for comfort and control during extended use.
  • Suitable for hook & loop backing pads (for ease of abrasive change) and typical industrial air tool fittings.

Applications

 :
  • Sanding, blending, and feathering weld seams on metal fabrication and automotive bodywork.
  • Surface preparation of metal, wood, plastic or composite substrates prior to painting or coating.
  • Handheld finishing work in furniture manufacturing, cabinetry, wooden flooring or veneering.
  • Polishing and finishing of fiberglass or composite panels (marine, auto, RV).
  • Light duty grinding of surface corrosion, rust or old coatings (with appropriate abrasives).
  • Finish sanding of door frames, window frames, joinery, metal sections.
  • Industrial production line applications where a compact, high-speed orbital sander is required.
  • DIY or professional renovation tasks where a pneumatic tool is preferred for durability and extended duty-cycle over electric.

Usage

 :
Air supply setup :
  • Use clean, dry compressed air, suitably filtered and lubricated as per manufacturer’s recommendation (since pneumatic motor life depends on good air quality).
  • Ensure the air hose I.D. is at least 3/8″ to avoid pressure drop. Specification lists 3/8″ I.D. hose.
  • Use correct air inlet coupling (¼″ NPT) and quick-release couplers rated for required flow.
  • Maintain recommended air pressure (approx. 90 psi) to achieve stated performance.

Pad and abrasive attachment :
  • Fit the correct 3″ pad (backing pad) compatible with hook & loop or other mounting system for the abrasive disc.
  • Ensure the pad thread matches (e.g., spindle thread 5/16″-24T per spec).
  • Inspect backing pad for wear or damage before use.

Operation :
  • Hold tool firmly but not excessively tight; let the tool do the work.
  • Start with lighter pressure—pneumatic tools generate high speed, and excessive force can reduce pad life and lead to undesirable finishes.
  • Move the sander in overlapping passes; because it's random orbital, it avoids swirl marks compared to fixed-orbit tools.
  • Monitor pad wear and abrasive condition; change abrasives when they become glazed or ineffective.

Safety & environment :
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE): eye protection, hearing protection (even though muffler is improved), respirator if airborne dust.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation or dust extraction if sanding materials that generate fine dust or contain hazardous substances.
  • Keep hose and tool clear of tripping hazards.
  • Never operate the tool without a disc backing pad or with a damaged pad.
